About the Provincial Nominee Program
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate immigrants who wish to settle in a specific province. When a candidate receives a provincial nomination through an Express Entry-linked stream, they earn 600 additional CRS points, virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next draw.
Each province operates its own PNP streams with unique eligibility criteria based on local labour market needs. Some provinces target specific occupations, while others focus on French-speaking candidates or those with family connections in the province.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must receive a Provincial Nomination from one of Canada's provinces or territories.
- Must meet the specific eligibility criteria of the PNP stream you are nominated under.
- Must have the required work experience, education, and/or job offer as stated by the nominating province.
- Must meet the minimum language requirements set by the province (usually CLB 5 or higher).
- Must have a valid Express Entry profile at the time of nomination.
- Express Entry-linked PNP: Adds 600 CRS points and allows you to receive an ITA through Express Entry.
- Base PNP: Does not go through Express Entry; you apply directly to the province.
Each province sets its own eligibility rules, job offer requirements, and points system.
How to Apply
- Create an Express Entry profile on the IRCC website.
- Research and apply to the PNP stream that matches your profile.
- If nominated, you will receive 600 additional CRS points automatically.
